Vegetarians

That’s true. Jains (a religion from India) still observe days where they kill nothing for food, so they eat nothing on those days that’s green and leafy and only eat things cast off from plants. I’ve eaten with Jains on those days, too, and the food is still pretty yummy.

pyroza: who says we’re at the top of the food chain?

When you go to fast food restaurants, what do you order?

For example,

McDonalds
Burger King
Dairy Queen
Subway

Yay, someone knows of the existence of my religion!

McDonalds/Burger King - nothing, really. I don’t go there except sometimes for breakfast.
Dairy Queen - ice cream?
Subway - Footlong veggie delight on Italian Herbs & Cheese, American cheese, the works + banana peppers, and red wine vinegar dressing. Always. :D

Taco Bell is a staple for most Indian vegetarians.

Yes, Taco Bell good…
The idea about eating plants is that you don’t kill the plant to get most plant products (bar wood, unless you have lots and lots of driftwood) but you do kill the animal to get its meat.

I’ve never had a substitute veggie patty. Does the patty taste like meat at all? And for those of you that have access to grocery bills, do you find that going vegan costs more? I would assume that nuts, whole grains and other food sources could cost more.

I have been vegetarian since birth, and I have had no problem with it.

I’m vegetarian and have been for 7 years, not eating anything in the animal kingdom. It was quite arbitrary though and i really don’t know why i became vegetarian. You get really used to it after a while and eventually consider it wrong to eat meat.

What do you get at Taco Bell? Burritos or something?

I have been a vegetarian for about 4 years now. Wasn’t that all difficult to eat veggies and other in a Chinese culture, just asked my mother not to add meat and TA DA!

Though i’m not veg (would love to be, but i need meat), i have tons of friends that are, and it’s really no big deal. My mom’s one of the ones that can eat meat as long as we don’t talk about animals. Personally, i think it’s the circle of life, but watevs. what happened to live and let live??? why can’t we just let people have their opinions??

was talking about CC, but this also applies to the world in general.

Meat is delicious, although I love many meals typically considered “vegetarian meals” as well. I enjoy the best of both worlds. I also have respect for the views of vegetarians until they start getting in my face and trying to force it upon me. For example, I’ve heard about PETA literally blockading the entrances to KFC. That’s one of the many reasons that I refuse to associate with people who support PETA (and PETA2).

yupp i’m a vegetarian =]
many people ask me if its upto my religion (as for being a hindu) however that is not true. you can choose to be a vegetarian…but yes religion does play a part into my diet.

I’m a vegetarian and I’ve been that ever since 6th grade.
I still have cravings a lot, but I try to remember my reason for choosing this path.

I don’t like to make fun of people who aren’t vegetarian because just like I don’t like it when people make fun of me as a vegetarian.

^ I agree. I have been a vegetarian since 3rd grade. It just looks gross and unappetizing.

But anyway… who cares if you’re “making a difference”? Most vegetarians know don’t eat meat because it is a moral issue with them. For instance, I don’t force my views onto other people, I just do what I do. OP: if you want to do it, do it. Don’t expect to change the world, change yourself. Do it because you want to, not because it is becoming a “fade”.

As far as what to eat for protein… boco burgers and Morning star burgers are high in protein. If you don’t like the taste of meat, eat boco burgers, morning star aims at making their food taste like meat, while being meatless. This to me is defeating the purpose, I prefer boco burgers. There are also meat-hot hot dogs, chik’n nuggets and anything else you could think of. It makes bein g vegetarian easy, I can eat most meals with my family, but simply fake meat, and get the protein and nutrients.

I’m not a vegetarian, but the only true justification for it in my eyes is biological magnification. look it up

I’ve been a vegetarian for almost 7 months now. It was an ethical and health choice. The adjustment was actually very easy - not nearly as hard as people think it is. After awhile, you realize that meat never tasted great after all. Chicken wings used to be my favorite food, lol, but that was only because I liked the sauce, not really the chicken. I am not against meat eaters…it’s just not for me anymore. I’ve lost a lot of weight ever since becoming a vegetarian, and I plan to stay one for the rest of my life. :D

I had a black bean burger for dinner. mmm

i was a vegetarian for 13 years of my life, since then i have discovered chicken. it is the food of all foods. low fat, high protein, great tasting. Chicken is my favorite food now. anything chicken. i couldnt be happier with my diet/health/food.

That’s weird. i love meat i eat it everyday couldn’t live without it. humans are meant to eat meat and many vegges stuggle to get proper nutrition.

but do what you want

Aren’t you supposed to eat about 1.5 grams of protein for every bound of body weight? I’m sure that vegetarians are not getting as much protein as they need…
