Does being a Ventures Scholar help in the admissions process?

it depends. being a ventures scholar will not make up for deficiencies in your application however, at some schools there are scholarships for students that have been designated as ventures scholars. other schools do waive their application fees for venture scholars.

Agree with Sybbie. Being a Venture Scholar gets you on the "radar" of schools interested in minority students interested in math & science. It may also help to get you paid invitations to visit schools.

is it something worth mentioning in the application?

It is probably neutral at most meaning it does not significantly help you if you mention it and it does not hurt you to mention it as most colleges know the Vnture Scholar’s guidelines.

Yes, it’s worth mentoning as it indicates you have an interest in science and math. Being a Venture Scholar will help you with some schools, but isn’t going to tip you into a place like Harvard or MIT.

Some schools give you reduced admission, at least Marist offered 1/2 if my son applied being a Venture Scholar.
