Recently, i received an email from someone at Westmont College. They were basically telling me about their college and what-not. But in the email it says:

"Westmont has been a Ventures Scholars member institution for the past few years. As a Ventures Scholar, we understand that you are interested in the fields of medicine, engineering, science, mathematics and technology. First, let me commend you on all the hard work you have accomplished to become a Ventures Scholar!"

What the heck? What's a Ventures Scholar? is it similar to Questbridge? I went on the website, and couldn't figure out what it was. Does anyone know of this program?

You're a Ventures scholar if you log on the website, have decent grades, etc. It's a free service and it's actually pretty cool. You can get frequent updates from the Ventures Scholar people about different summer programs, mentoring opportunities, etc. Just supposed to be a guide for what you should be doing in high school. No real scholarships or anything but has a lot of useful information.

I think my son was a Ventures Scholar (he got it through his school) You had to be a URM or first generation with good grades. I don't remember exactly. I do remember that he got letters and was supposed to get 1/2 tuition (no R&B)from Marist College if he applied and was accepted. That didn't happen, but since I had the letter from their administration, if he wanted to go there, I could of pushed it, but he didn't. It specifically said it was because of Ventures Scholars and his interest in math a nd science. When I called though, they said they would give it whether he wanted to major in that or not.
I also remember a list of scholarships from schools, but it was 2 years ago, things might of changed a bit.
