Verbal SAT Help

On the most recent practice test, I got:

Math: 800
Reading: 450
Writing: 470 / 7 (ran out of time for the improving paragraphs and only finished 3 paragraphs out of 5.. lol [graded from this SAT class I'm taking])
=1720.

I'm a freshman and I really want to increase each of the verbal to 600+ because I'm willing to apply to a magnet school (called TJHSST) for my sophomore year only if I increase my scores. I took a practice PSAT and I got a 62 on that one..so I'm not really sure where my writing score stands.
Anyways, I have the Barron's SAT 26th Edition and I happened to have Kaplan Critical reading (4th edition) and Peterson's Critical reading & writing (2nd edition). I'm currently working on Kaplan. What other books should I work on afterwards? I'm looking forward to practicing more problems (but also receive explanations). I also have lots of word lists to study from so I'm working on that too.

How should I improve reading comprehension and tips for grammar (like I know most of the rules but I can't recognize them..)? And what books should I get?

Erica Meltzer’s Ultimate Grammar Guide is great for grammar rules. It will definitely help you. Im currently using Barron’s Writing workbook and so far it helped me with practicing each grammar rule.
