When people are selected for income verification for Financial Aid, how is this done, because every year for the pass 3 years I have been selected. Am I to assume once you are selected the will select you again every year. Also how do they select people.

Everyone that I know of is selected. All it is at my daughters school is sending in 1040 and W'2 forms ( signed).
It isn't anything to worry about IMO.

I don't know because during the initial application proces, my daughter was selected for all 7 schools which she applied and was accepted to. Since we have to file every year, I just expect for the verification process to happen and quite frankly I am happy that there is a system of checks and balances

DS's college required signed tax returns as part of the application process. I can't imagine what they would want from us if we were chosen for "verification". They have it ALL already...tax returns and copies of all of our W-2's.

It is the federal goverment that selects you, that why all 7 schools wanted it since the federal goverment orders them to check your need. I am just wondering how the Ferderal goverment decides who to pick though.

Maybe it was just our luck of the draw, but Daughter was accepted to Dartmouth, Amherst, Williams,Tufts, Barnard, Bryn Mawr and Mount Holyoke. For each school we had to turn in our signed Tax forms, W-2's to every single school in order for our financial aid package to be considered complete before we got an award letter (for us it was a tip off that she was accepted) .
