Verification of Non-Filing Letter.....How you get it????

Facing it worked for me but it took 2 weeks. Going to a local office is much quicker.

@Hizeus If you’re going to the IRS office, then buddy you don’t even need to fill out the form. You can just make an appointment and get the letter right then and there. Go back to my follow up post for instructions.

Okay so I’m having this problem as well and hopefully someone can help me out. I filled out the 4506-T form and checked all the boxes including number 7 (Verification of non-filing) and sent it by mail to the IRS in Tennesse. I just got the letter back today saying " were sorry, but we couldn’t honor the request for the above taxpayer." So basically I wasn’t able to get the letter. What do you guys recommend doing now? btw I’m also a dependent student. I also live in Florida.

so by actually going to the nearest IRS would solve this frustrating problem?

same thing happened to me @kesliem . :frowning:

quick question, if I’m the student and I made the appointment with the IRS should I bring one of my parents with me or would it not matter?

I just got mine in the mail like 3 days ago guys!! Took almost 3 months, but finally got it.
@Neju97079707 how old are you?

My nephew faxed the form in and received his verification of non-filing within 10 days. He didn’t need to go in for an appointment

@Neju97079707 As long as you’re 18+ and have Id on you (permit, license) then it wouldn’t matter. Make sure you know your ss though.

Cheers! :D/

Don’t forget Part II of this process. It has been 2 weeks since S faxed a copy of his non-filer form to 4 different colleges. ** Only 2 have acknowledged receipt. ** I feel like I’m in the Twilight Zone.

@STEM2017 4 colleges? Mate, choose one and you’re done. I’m glad that I was of help to so many people. The tears I shed were not in vain. I also would like to shed some light to everyone. And I guess I’ll edit my original post too. The IRS is down currently and Data Retrieval tool will not be in use for months (I don’t know how many, I think october it’ll be back up I could be wrong) So those who have to go through verification start soon!

Cheers! :smiley:

Has anyone ever successfully used some thing like a Student ID as a photo id when going to a irs office? I called and told me that only “state issued IDs” or passport will work, which i have niether (AKA i dont have my licence).
