I have this very bad govt/econ teacher. She always gets off topic. Everyday she talks about how bad the American education system is, bad mouths other teachers, always gives us life-lessons no one cares to listen to, doesn't know her material, is arrogant, etc. etc. The worst part, however, is that she grades VERY unfairly. I think I can even get a C in her class, although I do all my work and have A's in my other classes which are all AP. She is from India, so she doesn't know that much English, and on a test, if you don't write something exactly as she thinks it should be or if you paraphrase the answer and give different examples and use higher level vocabulary (which I am apt to do), she will mark your question wrong! It's ridiculous! The answer has to be the exact one in the book and she is very picky.

She says everyone in the class has a D and that's because she doesn't even grade correctly. And she takes other people out of other teacher's classes to do HER activities but she gets stark raving mad whenever anyone has to leave a bit early for sports. And she spends half the time talking crap about other people and how this country is so stupid. Damn I hate her guts! She's a en * and she can drown in her own blood! That would be great! And I don't think anyone can convince her to change grades, because she is VERY lazy ("I do not do any work after 3:15"; she is out the door before we are). And she says "No one intimidate me no one scare me to change give passing grade" and all that crap. Like ***??????? And half the time you can't even understand what she is saying!!!!!! Like "authority" sounds like "a tore tree" and "government" and "participate" sounds like "party spate". WTH?????!!!!!!!!

What should I do about this teacher? If I get A's in every class but this one wouldn't it be weird? I'm applying to a lot of top schools so this is very bad.

I suggest you talk to your counselor to switch you to another teacher. If you feel that your work deserves better marks than what she's giving you then I say talk to your counselor or you can talk to the principal. By the sounds of it, you probably cannot talk to her about the problem since she will probably just ignore your statements and remark on how wrong and inconsiderable you are.

Report her for badmouthing other teachers? That's pretty unprofessional of her, and at my school, it's definitely not allowed.

Also, maybe you can show some of your tests to the history department head and have him/her evaluate your answers. Then, if they say that the tests are graded unfairly, then talk to your counselor.

Buy four bottles of iodine from your local pharmacy. Open her gas tank, pour in four bottles of iodine. Wait a week. She won't get out by 3:15, so then you can discuss grade.

She's the only govt/econ teacher at my schoo. Is it possible to do independent study even if they have that subject at my school?
[/QUOTE]
Be smarter. Don't do independent study of 'economics' if they have 'economics' in your school.
Do indepedendent study of 'macro-economics' or, 'advanced pre-ap economics with concentration on countries of south Africa'.

"And half the time you can't even understand what she is saying!!!!!! Like "authority" sounds like "a tore tree" and "government" and "participate" sounds like "party spate". WTH?????!!!!!!!! "

You should be more considerate of the fact that there are people in the world whose english is not perfect.
So what do you do, you ask her to REPEAT what she is saying.

That illegal alien comment was unnecessary. Get a tape recorder, tell ABC news you have a ****** teacher and they'll save it for a future 20/20. Or just go to local news:p And threaten her with it, not like going to a D to an F is a big difference.

i know u prob wont do this, but talk about her to a principal, or send an anoymous (hence my name) letter to the principal, and talk about the issue. They prob wont do crap because teachers are hard to find. Very evident due to the fact ur crapy teacher was hired. Or you could get signatures of parents/students to change teachers or something? One teacher told me that teachers are scared of students parents'.

Sorry about mentioning her accent it isn't really a big deal to me but she is very annoying anyways with her grading, incompetence, and continuous blabbering about things totally off topic.

And I think a lot parents have talked to the administration but she was blabbering on the first day about how parents came in and "threatened" her but she "is no scared of parents" and she always talks about how the adminstration is lazy and can't do anything to her, etc. etc. And she is always talking about doing stuff for other schools she likes but when she talks about the school she teaches at (my school) she can't even go to any meetings or collaborate with other teachers because she thinks they are all lazy and incompetent (which is ironic).

i had an indian teacher who took points off someone's lab for using the word 'skewed' when referring to results. also, when someone asked her how to do something she said "do it either mathmatically or logically". that pretty much sums up the class...somehow i still pulled off a 3 on the AP exam.

It's because in India, that's how the grading's done a lot of the time. I've seen how my cousins get points knocked off for not quoting the book exactly on tests. A bunch of bs, in my opinion...she should grade on whether you understand the material, not whether you memorized the textbook. Go report her to the counselor! I had the same problem freshman year in science, except she was from Russia. About half the class complained about her and she relaxed her grading policies greatly since otherwise no one would have passed and I think the principal told her at least SOME kids have to, even if it was an honors course. Good luck! :)
