about one particularly bad grade. What will colleges think if all my grades fresh and soph years were A's, and then in jr year I got 1 B+ (89 in precalc H) and 1 B (85 in physics H). Will that be considered a downward trend in grades????

Also, I don’t know how much of an “excuse” this is, but in junior year students are allowed to take many more AP classes (which I did). I took no AP classes fresh year, 1 AP class sophomore year, and 4 this year.

Colleges know that APs and Honors are harder. If you are reaching for tippy-top colleges, then B’s start to matter, as many applicants have all A’s in APs. Plenty of those admittees did have a few B’s though, so just work on those A’s next year, and be sure to prepare well for your SAT/ACT.

when did an 89 become particularly bad?

One 85? HAHAHA. You’ll be fine. I’ve gotten significantly worse grades than that.

Maintaining top grades as classes get harder is tough. Top colleges expect you to, most don’t.

Grades and classes may have different difficulties, depending on the school. If your rank is good, then it might not matter as much that you got some B’s.

:) Keep on working hard.

Yeah some classes have a different grading and/ or more difficult. If your rejected from a school I highly doubt it’s because of two B’s.
