I received the Presidential Scholarship (15k) recently, but I didn't apply for it. I still have not heard about the Boatwright or Oldham scholarships, so I'm starting to get worried. There's nothing wrong with my stats, so I'm extremely confused as to why I have not been notified about the aforementioned competitive scholarships. Can anyone explain why this has happened?

SAT: 1510/2300
GPA: 4.1 W (4.3 is A+, 4.0 is A, 3.7 is A-, etc...)
Lots of leadership experience in and out of school
AP Scholar with Distinction (will have 9 as of graduation)
Part-time job
National Merit Finalist

My D wha has similar stats to you also got the Presidential scholarship but was not a Richmond scholar finalist. My understanding is that all those who are finalists have already been notified. Sorry!

S also had similiar stats (1520/1600 SAT, NMF, 3.99 UW), received a President's scholarship but no Richmond Scholars.

A URICH admissions person kindly updated the thread below stating that all finalists were informed a couple weeks ago, which was much appreciated.

Congratulations on receiving the Presidential Scholarship! All students in the applicant pool were considered for this award, but only about 25 are awarded, so while I know you are disappointed that you weren't selected as a Richmond Scholar finalist (you would have received this news by e-mail and Federal Express) I hope you know you were highly regarded by the Admission Office. As for "why this happened". . . . there were hundreds of outstanding applicants for Richmond Scholar--about 600 students with numbers comparable to yours. Unfortunately we aren't in a position to offer full scholarships to that volume of people. If you'd like to discuss your situation in particular, pick up the phone and call the Admission Office. We'd be happy to talk to you about it. Good luck as you make your final decision!
