Ok I'm fairly smart. 1320 on SATS and a 3.86 GPA. I've been accepted to Drexel, Manhattan College, Hofstra, Virginia Tech, RIT, SUNY Binghamton, and BU. Waitlisted to Villanova, Lehigh, RPI.

My mom just told me that I can't go to a really expensive college.

I'm afraid that if go to say Binghamton and want to transfer out in a year that I will not even be able to get into the schools that I got into originally.

My plan is to go to Binghamton for a year and then transfer to Nova. Is this a feasible idea?

I'm also concerned that if I stay at Binghamton getting my MechE degree that employeers will look at me in a negative light because it isn't a big name school.

Did you get your finaid packages? Why do you think it would be better to transfer after one year? You might get even less finaid as a transfer. Unless you only have enough $ to pay for three years of school?

I should have clarified. Less than 20k a year is what my mom can financially pay without loans being taken out (Sucks to have lost your dad to cancer).

But why should I go to an expensive school that I really don't want to go to and will probably transfer out of, if I could go to a cheaper school and then transfer in a year.

I'm up to taking out loans and not getting a Subaru STi to go to a school that I really like.

I'm just nervous that going to Binghamton or something like that will not allow me to transfer to a school like Nova.
