Very Curious About Probability. Please Chance Me, I'll Chance Back!

To begin with, i’m a current Junior but have a pretty rough estimate of what my senior year application will look like. Colleges that interest me include Northwestern, UVA (my sister went there), University of Chicago, Chapel Hill, Duke etc. And would like to major in Law - Political Science. Any feedback/criticism is much appreciated, thank you so much in advance!

Again, I’m still only a Junior, results may fluctuate. Moreover, this summer i’m considering going to a highly selective Debate Camp ( one of the best in the country ), would it be smart to instead possibly do a Humanitarian Project in my home country Ecuador, dealing with inner city kids? Lastly, i’m set on applying to Quest Bridge, any thoughts? Will ED or EA boost my chances?

Low SAT for these schools but great ECs!

^ I completely disagree with the above chancer. I think you have a very good shot at all of these schools with the impressive ECs, and your low GPA/ high rank shows that your school was tough, and they will understand it. With the Half-URM, you should have a very good chance!

A high reach for Uchicago, probably mid to low reach for Duke, Northwestern and Virginia, and match for chapel Hill for now because of test scores. Your EC’s and courseload are very impressive though. You’ve also got a alot of hooks so maybe you have a higher chance than the average person.

The test scores are rough estimates computed from my PSAT (190’s) since I’m still a Junior. I’m taking the SAT in January, and hope to get around a 2100+ I just gave a reasonable attainable score. What test score range do you think will gave me a better shot to UC, NW & Duke?

Your SAT/ACT is a bit low- you really should look into improving that. With your ECs and other stats, a superscore of 2200-2250 (or the ACT equivalent) should give you absolutely no trouble getting into ANY of the schools you listed. If you apply with the SAT score you have though, I would definitely say you get into UVa (because of legacy) and have a solid shot at the other schools you listed, maybe 50-75% depending on your essays.

Also, would it be better for me to just identify as just Hispanic since I was born in Ecuador and have citizenship, rather than Half Asian - Half Hispanic? Quest bridge is also a big opportunity for a full ride college match, thoughts?

It won’t make too much of a difference if you identify as Hispanic or Half Hispanic, as long as you identify as some sort of Hispanic you probably will have a better shot at some of your colleges (although not that much of a better shot).
