First of all, I'm really happy to have gotten this score. I got 33, 35, 33, 34 as my subscores.

I am taking the subject tests in June, but with the deadline for the next ACT coming up very shortly, I'm not sure if I should retake the ACT?

I feel that I may be able to get a 35 composite, but I may just get another 34 or a 33. This is my first time taking the test, and I have gotten up to a 35/36 in each section during practice tests (so if I sit a NEAR PERFECT test, I could get a 35).

Would it be worth to try it again, or should I just focus on other things?

Is there any difference between a 34 or 35? Any expert opinions on this? What about for top 10 or top 20 schools? (HYP, ivies, NU, Duke, etc)?

Thanks for any help guys :)

From 33 to 34 is less critical as from 32-33. It would be up to your schedule and if you need more practice or not.

@ArenasField: Congratulations on your great score, especially on your first attempt. I think your time is better spent focusing on your AP tests, application essays, and extra-curricular activities. Good luck!

Thanks for the replies

Does it matter if my writing score is really bad ?

What if my English score is below average for top schools ?

If you have extra time, take it again. Keep in mind that an extra point or two will not change the likelihood of getting in. Schools want good enough.

So will my score not be much worse compared to a 35(if I could get it )?

I’m leaning towards not taking it again

How is the act? I’ve never taken it. (I did the sat once, got 2110)

I’d like a 35, the sat is too hard lol

34 is more than good enough- it is within the mid 50 percent or even higher for all top schools. Save the money.

-sigh- Typical CollegeConfidential thread. 2 points on a standardized test won’t make or break you when applying to top universities.

Thanks for the replies . Sorry if I sounded like a d!ck … I just wanted to know what would be best for me .

Thank you
