Very Important!!!! Ap Self-study

OK... SO I WANT TO DO A SELF-STDUY NEXT YEAR......AND I HAVE A FEW QUESTIONS. SO SINCE MANY OF YOU CCers HAVE DONE OR ARE DOING A SELF-STUDY, I KNOW U ALL WILL BE ABLE TO HELP.....

1) Does an AP self-study count as a credit... GPA?

2) I know it may differ from school to school....but does the school provide the text book?

3) Does the course show up on your transcript? does it say self-study on the transcript, or just AP?

Thanx in advance......also feel free to add any additional knowledge you have on the subject....and if it helps, i plan to do AP statistics and maybe AP Human Geo.

1) No. Only classes you actually take would affect your GPA.
2) Most schools provide the required textbook for classes, but if you plan to self-study using a school textbook, I suggest you talk to a teacher.
3) I don't think you understand what self-study is. It's not the type of "independent study" you get credit for. You simply study on your own with review books and some textbooks all year and then take the AP exam in May. Thus, no class, no credit, and no appearance AT ALL on your transcript (since AP exams don't show up, only AP classes you take IN SCHOOL). The point of the self-study is that you're doing it OUTSIDE of school in your spare time. It would be pretty odd if you got school credit for non-school work or it showed up on your transcript.

Hope this helps, and sorry if I sounded rude or anything like that.
