VERY IMPORTANT - for those that have NOT gotten coming days status!!!!!!

^^^well I am the same as you except mine is since mid September… Are you a URM? are you applying to the honors college?
well according to my friend we are being considered for a scholarship
according to my other friend we are the back ups, so If too many “good people” apply we don’t get to go. but if they get crappy apps or not too many people apply we get to go
I would like to think the first one is true ;)

My message changed to “Your application is complete, all of your required materials are here, and we are reviewing your credentials. A decision will be available here as soon as one is made.” but I have still not gotten the coming days status. I applied before the November deadline. Does anyone know how long until to decision or the coming days status.

@creacher I’m a URM! And I hope so, though I know of an a Jamaican girl at my school who recently got accepted, which is upsetting because her stats are lower than mine :(

Same here… My future roommate(hopefully the way things are going with the decisions) had low stats and was accepted he is a URM too so IDK what is going on…

I LITERALLY CAN’T WAIT ANYMORE. My friends with lower stats, rank, and SATs are hearing before me. What is this?

Ok there is some logical explanation for this

“Please note that your application status will not be updated from December 23 through January 2, due to the holiday break. If you are interested in checking your application status, please visit MyPennState after January 2, at which time we will resume updating application status.”
this is killing me…

I agree that this wait is excruciating!! I feel like I’ve been waiting forever and it makes me more and more nervous because Penn State is my top choice. I think that my GPA is good enough but my SAT scores are average. However, some say that they look more at GPA than SAT scores so who knows…It’s such a killer how some heard back so early but the rest of us have to wait until January even if we applied early :/

http://admissions.psu.edu/info/counselors/bubble_chart06.pdf

To everyone who is freaking out-don’t worry, I was just like you all last year. I applied to Penn State, my dream school and #1 choice in early October of 2010. I waited and waited, and was really worried when other people started getting in and I hadn’t heard anything. Listen to me, DO NOT rely on the online status. It is not updated all the time and sometimes you hear back through the mail before it is updated. I did not hear back until Jan 29th! I waited 4 long months and heard back the second to last day for early applicants. However, it did pay off. I know what you all are going through and trust me, I know you are all as frustrated as I was. Just be patient, do not jump to any conclusions and I am sure it will pay off! Good luck to you all, I hope you will be future Nittany Lions!! I LOVE Penn State so far. It was the best decision I have ever made to come here. WE ARE <3 (ALSO-to anyone who has gotten into/gets into summer semester at UPark, DO NOT rule it out, summer session at PSU is the experience of a lifetime. I got in for fall but decided to change my admittance to summer. I did LEAP and absolutely loved it. It was hands down the best summer of my life so far! I am best friends with many others I met over the summer!!)

Here were my stats when I applied last year too:
GPA-3.76
ACT-28
I also did two sports in high school and a few clubs. I am also a third generation Penn Stater.

Once again, GOOD LUCK! :)

Our daughter applied about 3rd week in Oct. Last year as OOS
she was.admitted.dec 18th in into eberly.college.of.science. she had great GPA but could.have had better test scores yet was admitted…don’t worry, you will get in…happy new year;)

Ok so i haven’t heard either from penn state… (applying to engineering college)

gpa (w): 3.72
gpa (u): 3.33
AP: 6 courses
honors + AP: 16 courses
A few extra curriculars too including baseball, fbla, and volunteer work.

I find it very interesting that I heard from pitt and drexel almost immediately after applying that i was accepted even though most sites that i’ve been on have told me they are harder to get into. I’m really confused as to why psu is taking so long to make this decision.

I know it’s older, but still: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-search-selection/729662-colleges-get-most-applications.html

Yea they get a crapton of applications, just gotta be patient

I have also not heard back yet and it has been KILLING ME. A couple people in my school have heard back already so it’s been worrying me. I put marketing as my major on my app but after all this time I’ve reconsidered and I’m probably going to go into pre-med or nursing or something of that sort. I’ve been wanting to call/email admissions and tell them about this change but I’m afraid it’ll just delay me hearing back. I’ll just deal with that if I’m accepted. Okay soo…

STATS:
UW GPA: 3.69
W GPA: 3.85
SAT COMBINED: 1710 (I know :/)
*All AP/Honors/College in HS classes and I did the personal statement/activities essay

I also indicated that I would go to summer too, so I’m hoping that increases my chances of getting into UP.

I’m so worried! I probably check my psu account around 283957092 times a day.
I wish I would just hear back already :(

Kerbear, when did you apply!? I’ve also been waiting forever!

SEPTEMBER FREAKIN 1ST! the first day the application was available… this scares me a LOT that I haven’t heard back. I had everything in within the first few days of Sept…

That’s ridiculous! I had everything in mid-October, Penn State is one of my tops so this really scares me :(

Both of you should look up rolling admissions, that helped me a lot in understanding the process. Well I hate to say it but we are kind of the Ginny Pigs or safety net for the admissions office. It really sucks because we did get In but we won’t find out till the end of Jan. So study the bobs and hold the old girl in course because it is going to be a very long trip. Right now they are trying to see how many qualified students they can admit from reg application before filling up the space with under qualified people from the EA pool. Looking at thee stats I would say we are on the safe side because the people who got in, which are supposed to the qualified ones , have lower stats than we do. If your stats are similar to the people that got in I would be worried.(I don’t mean the super applicants)

Yeah there are a bunch of people with much lower stats than me who have already been accepted so I’m hoping for the best :(

still on answer. OK IF YOU GET REJECTED TELL US SO THAT WE KNOW OUR FATE
