I'm from Fairfax County too!

Don't worry, you're a clear in. You should apply to the Honors program

Do you really think so?
I think it may even be to late.
thank you for the confidence booster. I have really been anxious

yeah.. you will definitely get in.
and you should get an invite to apply to the honors program after EA decisions are sent out (if you applied EA).. i'm not sure about RD, since I applied early.
but do apply to the honors program... i am currently in it and i LOVE it :)

make sure you qualify first though.. i don't really know the requirements offhand...
i know your SATs are too low, but depending on your class rank and unweighted GPA.. you would have a chance (you only need to meet 1 of these criteria to be eligible)
i think it's a 3.7ish unweighted GPA and top 25% of your class, but it may have changed.
Good Luck :)

wow that sounds really great! :)
Thank you for your suggestions.
I did apply early, so I am really eager to hear back and I will definitly look into the honors program. I am hoping my GPA will be good enough.
Thank you again

@bbguy - if you don't get accepted into the honors program as an incoming freshman, you have another crack at it as a freshman (and possibly later) based on grades at JMU. My son applied but didn't get into honors; he did really well 1st semester and received an offer to join the honors program this January.

I do not know if they track students who almost but didn't make it from HS, or if it based solely on freshman grades. The honors program office is very accessible, so you can speak with them about it. JMU is a great school - Good luck!

PS. Wild guess (based on IB program) - South Lakes?

wow that sounds like a good deal. thank you for the advice.
I actually go to Marshall.

when do you guys think we will hear from JMU?

Sometime in mid-January most likely. Last year most people heard before 1/20, but school starts a week later this year. Not sure if that will impact admissions letters going out.
