Very Large High Schools

There's about 100 in 7-12. 12 in the senior class. 6 in this year's chemistry class :D.

We could use a few more AP classes, but I kinda like it being small.

^dayumm tiny ass school,

i went to braddock high in miami, the largest high school in the us, over 5,000 kids but now im at a new school in miami that they built to alleviate the population.

Kara- Actually, I'm from Mansfield.

My school has 5,100 students and it can get hard to get help sometimes. Especially from the counselor and the college center.

"My school has approximately 3700 students, 800 of whom are seniors. We have around 100 applicants to Cornell every year, and much more to schools such as NYU and Boston University. We are a very competitive school, and we have the highest number of Intel Semifinalists in all of New York City. The atmosphere is very congested with many shortages of supplies. Competition for top tier schools is cutthroat. Schools like Harvard, Princeton, Yale, UPenn, Dartmouth, Columbia, Georgetown, Univ of Chicago, Duke, etc take around 1-3 every year. Cornell loves our school and takes around 10-15 people every year. The school has many opportunities but there are just too many people. An annex to the school has been in the planning stages for 20 years and is still not being built. Our school was built in 1941 and the annex calls for a new building with an overhead bridge connecting the two buildings (unprecedented for a high school in Brooklyn, NY), with state of the art wireless laptops, laboratories, and a huge library. This is of course only going to be built after the class of 2030 graduates. Otherwise, the school is nationally ranked and well-known."

I am 100% certain that we both go to Midwood High School.

The class of 007 at my school has 87 students.

The class of '06 at my school has 75 students, and that's really big for my HS. My class ('07) only has 50.

FreshElephant, you sound like a Belmont student.
The class of 2007 went from 530 freshman year to 400 now (so many dropouts). The largest school in the state has a senior class of over 900 students (Mentor) while the smallest has a senior class of 1 (Kelley's Island).
Finally, hotpiece101 must be either an Oak Hills or Fairfield senior for what she said to be true.

well i go to a very large high school with abour 4500 students all around the halls. very crowded and not enough lockers. well the disadvantage i see is that there isnt a closer connection between the student and teacher b/c the teacher has to always concentrate their attention on the "lesser smart" kids and they usually just leave the smarter ones to independent study. however the good thing about big schools is that they can seclude those who excell and those who dont, at least helping them as a whole class and allowing the smarter ones to propel themselves. but theres a lot of activities and plenty of diversity among students so its pretty cool to be in a large high school.

My school has like 500 or so people in it. It is easy to get to know people but it can get boring. Plus our school lacks alot of the public school technology. The sports suck besides basketball who make playoffs here and there. And there are only four aps offered and only for seniors so the acedemics arent great either. But I dont think my school speaks for every other private school b/c I know there are really good ones in the city that have awesome sports, academics, aps, and technology.

Plus in a big public school it easy to get away with things then a small one.

i wish i went to a bigger high school. my school only has 200 ppl per grade...and a lot of the kids have been there since 4th. not many people at all to befriend there

we have about 1500 kids k-12, between two buildings.
my class is 120.

the biggest graduating class around here is probably around 200, and the smallest is 1. literally, just one person from a school.

My school has about 2000 kids and I love it. I know a lot of people, yet there are some I dont know(mainly underclassmen). We offer many extra things. We have an autos garage(with 2 hydrolic lifts), drafting room, a bunch of tech ed rooms(woods, metals, electronics). Our athletic program is AMAZING. Always competing for state in most sports. I have seen tons of college scouts in my school. We were only the 2nd high school in the nation ever to send two players in one year to the all american bowl in texas. Have one of the top baseball prospects in the nation. All of that can offer a lot. Our football program alone has givin many athletes that would not have made it to D1 colleges because of adademics a chance because of our sports programs. Overall I think that my high school is great.

we have 1200 and i think it is just perfect (although hallways get somewhat crowded and the parking lot is way too full).

We have a little over 3,000 students at my school. I like big schools even though it's really quite crowded in the hallways. We have alot of activities and offer different classes and most of the teachers are really cool. I don't know half the students in my junior class and most everybody mingles with each other, like freshmen and seniors.

Hahahaha yeah, I've been to a 6A (over 3,000) student high school. Honestly, I thought the school was small. I've always been to larger schools. There are numerous opportunitiyes and clubs and teachers are open. Nothing wrong with it, in fact it feels weird in a smaller school. I knew quite a fes people in my class too.

large high schools has its good and bads. i attend a high school with 3600+ students. Our sopsomore class has been the largest freshman class (last year) in the history of the school (50 years). Having over 900 kids in our class alone it brings a lot of competition. thats prob the only down side.
everything else i dont mind. the class sizes are fine. 14:1 teacher:student ratio. i like my french the best because it only has 10 people in it (everone had to take it another period, class packed with over 30 kids ^^ ).
having lots of people also dramatically brings up the number of people competiting for varsity sports spots. the competition in sports is tremendous. I like it.
i like large high schools. lots of cool people, tons of ECs, and tons of classe choices. ^^

3500 at my school.

My school have 2000 plus people. The main problem is that the class sizes are enormous, even the harder APs. Calc BC, Euro History, etc. all have around 30 people.

3700+ Arcadia High School CA
