So I had one horrible semester a couple years back and recieved 2 FW's (fail withdrawl) and 2 W's. Since then i have retaken 3 of the classes and got 3 A's and retaking the 4th one this fall.

Im applying to Humboldt State University and CSU Chico for Spring 12 transfer. I have a 2.63gpa which im praying is good enough for these schools. (im a local transfer from butte cc which is in chico) but my #1 choice is humboldt for their Environmental Engineering Major.

I have all of my GE done and in the "golden 4" areas i have a B,B,B,C

what are my chances of getting transferring in to humboldt state university and chico state?

thanks for your help

Once you repeat your last F your GPA should jump a lot higher. The minimum GPA for a CSU is a 2.0 if your major is not impacted. I would check out both school’s websites to make sure. I’m not familiar with the particular program you’re interested in but I think you’re in good shape, just do as well as you can in the Fall and get as many pre-reqs out of the way as possible. You can always contact the admissions officers at Humbolt if you have specific questions.

well thats the problem…they wont see my gpa till after fall which is late december and im applying for spring next month (august) so they will only see my 2.6gpa overall.

major isnt impacted but california is going through a budget crisis with its state schools right now. the admissions office told me as of now they’re taking spring applications but its pending of the budget in limbo

i hope all works out and im attending humboldt state in spring. ive been at a junior college wayyyy too long (3 1/2 years) and i started 2 years after highschool so im way behind just looking foward to being at a 4 year college!!!

I understand! I’m 22 won’t be out until next Fall making me 23. I’m way too anxious to finally get out of CC and move on with my life. I was going to apply to SDSU in the Spring to just get out of CC but because of budgets they aren’t taking apps, which I’m sort of glad about because I was only applying because I wanted to leave not because I loved the program.

Good luck with your app! The budget was passed a few weeks ago and their website says they will be accepting apps on August 1. I wouldn’t fret too much about your GPA. They will be able to see that you are currently retaking the class and hopefully your recent successes will work in your favor This is where having a personal statement would help you out, I don’t really know why they don’t have one. Anyways, I know plenty of kids at my CC with much lower GPA than yours (< 2.5) get into CSUs, all in socal though. Stay positive!
