Very Rough Estimate of EFC (Based off your experiences)

Do not count on being an RA. Especially not first year. It is often a very competitive process which starts with sophomores (you can apply and start training at the end of freshman year). So you can apply but it is not like a club where you just sign up. It also takes time so make sure to look at the requirements and benefits when you are looking at colleges.

@MA2012 yeah I realize you can’t be an RA freshman year. To clarify, I meant the very second I’m on campus I’m going to start looking in to the application process.

@ajneer

Don’t count on becoming an RA. It’s a very competitive application process at most colleges.

I think if an RA position is desired, the student can work for it. Join the activities at the dorm, become friends with the current RAs, get a paid position at the front desk if those are available. be friendly.

I know a lot of kids who wanted the position and got it.

K-State does have an excellent architecture program! I think the EFC of 12K sounds about right. They had good merit that brought it down to in-state rates. With a couple other merit scholarships and food and housing that is about what we pay. You have to either have a plan to afford it or look into somewhere else. If you manage to swing it you will love it there!
