Chance my friend! She really wants to know her chances, but doesn't feel like making an account so we're both on mine.

Things she's worried about:
- She feels as if she has to score above 2300 on SAT to stand a chance
- Weak AP scores
- Even her sister (Harvard 09) was deferred from MIT

Chance her for:

MIT (EA/Grad-School Legacy)
Harvard
Yale
UPENN
Stanford
Columbia
Brown
Wellesley
Maryland

She really wants to go to MIT and study neurology/biology!! Can anyone offer any suggestions to boost her chances of admittance to MIT?

A few weak numbers, very strong ECs. Get published, SAT score over 2200, and decent scores on these other APs (maybe one 4, rest should be fives) and she's in.

PSAT= weaksauce. And she's going to need above a 2300 to stand a chance; there is no denying that fact. But then again, admission to all the aforementioned schools is a crapshoot.
Said person seems to have somewhat of an affinity for math, so she would be advised to take the AMC and qualify for the AIME. I fully agree with the above member, if she wants a shot at MIT, an entrance into the Siemens competition would be a nice addition to all the great ECs she has/is doing.

haha okay so my PSAT score was 210 (80 math, 76 writing, 54 critical reading) and i remember this one passage about telescopes that i completely zoned out on.... so i guess the 210 wasn't exactly representative of me lol

Why does everyone keep telling her to raise her scores? To me, it looks like you have really very impressive ECs, and stand a good chance. But it all depends on a lot of things. Anyway, good luck, and don't stress about SAT. I seriously doubt 2300+ helps that much more than 2200+, etc.

I don't know why everyone keeps telling her to raise her scores. She should aim for around 2150-2200, higher if possible, but as long as she isn't below 2000 (then it's kinda weird) she's fine.

Besides there are far better things for her to be doing than raising her SAT score.
