Very short chance for Princeton

Can a student with a 3.7 weighted GPA with a very strong upward trend get into Princeton? I had a 2.7 freshman year, 3.5 sophomore year and 4.3 junior year. I also have 7 AP classes under my belt including senior year, and I have a 2200 sat. Don’t worry about the EC’s or anything else just chance me on my grades. I’m out of state also. I know Princeton is a reach school even for students with 4.0 gpa’s and whatnot but just please chance me I’m curious, thanks(:

That’s generally said of students with a 4.0 UNWEIGHTED. What’s your unweighted? Likely pretty low, right?

Yea it’s a 3.5

And I also heard that Princeton does not look at freshman GPA? If so then my weight GPA would be a 3.9

Out of state does not matter for Princeton, it is private.

Regardless, I would do the financial research first. If you can get in to Princeton, that’s great, because they have super aid, but if not, you’re going to need some financially sound safeties and matches.

I can pay for tuition but I have like a 0.003 chance of getting in I think

Oh, that’s not as low as I was thinking. Nevertheless, on the most recent Common Data Set you can see that the percentage of people with a 3.75+ on a 4.0 scale is 87.64%. So you’d automatically be below the 25th percentile there.

Can you? Yes.
Will you? Only the admissions officers know.

Anyway, there’s no point in worrying about the past, especially if you’re planning on applying anyway. Just try your best and don’t be bogged down by doubts.

Thanks, probably best advice I’ve gotten so far on this website(:

I would never recommend someone not to apply to an Ivy, unless their SAT is below 2000 and their GPA is below 3.5. Everything else is a crap shoot, but honestly think about whether you could do the work there.

No harm in trying, other than maybe the loss of an application fee. Chances are very low for any applicant. Do you have a chance? Sure, but unlikely, just as it is for any applicant.
Good luck.
