Very strange predicament. Please look.

Hello all,

I received a 35 on my ACT (36 English, 35 Science, 34 Reading, 34 Math), which absolutely astounded me when I saw it. I've taken the ACT once before and gotten a 31 with an 8 essay. My problem is that I don't think I did well on my essay this time around because I wasn't able to adequately finish it.

This will be pretty strange looking, because on my SAT (which I got a 2200 on) I received a score of 12 on my essay. I am applying to top schools (Ivies, MIT, Caltech, Duke, etc. etc.)

So how will a 35 ACT with a terrible essay score look, especially in the context of my SAT?

Thanks!

It won't matter to much, unless we are talking about a 5,6.

yeah, if you get at least an 8 on the essay on the 35 ACT, then don't worry about it

well I don't think I will even get an 8. But I will be showing colleges both my SAT and ACT, so what would colleges think?

You're overthinking this...

Don't worry... your score astounded you, maybe your essay too. If you do bad this time, you can always take it again and still guarentee a good score

i thought i did not do so hot on science and maybe not so hot on reading... i got a 34 on each of those sections, and i got a 35 composite

so, even though you have a bad feeling about it, you probably didn't do as badly as you think

don't overlook it so much

Thanks, guys. Any more comments would be helpful!
