Here is my anticipated college list...

Reaches: UVa (OOS applicant)------ very possibly Gtown or UPenn (but I know those are long shots)
Matches: Vanderbilt, Villanova, Bucknell
Safety: St. Joseph's University

Does that look reasonable?

St. Joes is probably a good bet as a safety.

Villanova and Bucknell are decent matches (Villanova more than Bucknell).

But you are BARELY in the 25% of admitted students for Vanderbilt, Gtown, and UPenn. So they're all big reaches.

I'd add some more good match schools (Tulane, NYU,etc.)

As ses says, the problem is not the class rank (obviously), but rather the SATs.

As far as Virginia, you look pretty good, even Villanova is probably a 50-50, but as far as Georgetown or Penn, you'll need higher SAT score to go with that impressive list of ECs.

P.S. Don't list Who's Who on your application--everyone knows they will list anyone who pays them to do so.

Calcruzer and ses give you pretty imput which I'd agree with. Your class rank and GPA are definitely where they need to be and your ECs are very good, but your SAT scores as they currently stand are low for several of the schools you'd like to apply to. If you can improve each section at least 50 points, you'd be in better shape for several of them. Also, I don't know if you're interested in running in college, but if you are, be sure to contact the coaches at each of the colleges you're interested in ASAP. For schools such as UVA, sports can be a strong pull if the coaches think you'd be a good asset for their teams.

Chances on a scale of: high reach, reach, semi-reach, good fit, likely, safety.

Univeristy of Virginia... SEMI-REACH.
Georgetown University... REACH.
University of Pennsylvania... HIGH REACH.
Vanderbilt University... SEMI-REACH.
Villanova University... GOOD FIT.
Bucknell University... GOOD FIT.
St. Joseph's University... LIKELY.

Yeah. I do realize Gtown and UPenn are definite reaches with my SAT scores. Hopefully, I bring them up to 700 on each after prepping for the next 4 months. If I don't bring them up much, however, I'm not even considering applying to those two schools.

I have my hopes set on Vandy, UVa, or 'Nova though.

Bump bump bump...

Anybody else???

Anybody else????

MY DD had similar stats ( SAT 710V,600M,700W), top 5%, GPA 95 at a good public HS that grade deflates, her school does send many kids to top schools including ivys, also with an impressive list of EC"s etc. Anyway she was accepted at BC, "nova, F&M, Gburg, Syracuse.newhouse,Lafayette and waitlisted at COnn, hamilton and bucknell...

UVA, Gtown, U penn and vandy are reaches, and possibly bucknell....If your Sat scores do improve significantly ( >100pts), then you have a better shot. GL and study hard this summer
