Very Very big reach

So this is such a reach it is funny but what the hell why not.

I am at a public school in Michigan D1 AA school. I'm trying to transfer to UM or ND in the winter but a bunch of friends at HYP and they say it is amazing. also b/c i am trying to transfer to um or nd a friend bet me i could never get into HYPM. I know it is so far out there but you never know, stuff can happen in admin.

Did horrible in HS, 3.0, 27 act, 1900 SAT. Public school in Michigan ranked in top 250 in nation as far as academics. Model United Nations, Student Ambassador soph year to England, France, Austria, Germany and Italy. Took all ap classes but never took the tests b/c i wasn't around with sports.

I was a 4 sport varsity athlete and was recruited by harvard for rowing, my best sport, but my grades were obviously not even close. Also played Water polo 2yr varsity, swam 2yr varsity, soccer 3yr varsity - state champs in each.

rowing was my best - 5th in North America at Royal Henley Regatta. Missed qualifying for world trials by 2 seconds. 9 state champ boats - 4 midwest silvers. 5 place at nationals soph year

Volunteered in HS, nothing big - 200+ hours as rowing and water polo coach. Come from a middle class catholic family of 9 kids. All from my parents none adopted and no divorce/remarriage. Both parents went to college - SMC (ND, In) and U of D - Oldest kid so first in college the rest are going to who knows yet. HAve worked since 7th grade: caddie, paper route, rowing coach, worked for my township, retail, and in a mortgage office.

Ran as a township trustee this past summer as a joke with my friends and i just to see if i could get it, but i lost. Kinda a half *ss job at running, but i got about 25% of the vote so it was fun.

College stats - 1st semester soph- 3.92 Poli sci/Business major - BioChem Minor - want to go to law school - thinking maybe yale, harvard, ND or UM for that - um, Three student gov positions. Played water polo for a year, but i blew out my knee so i can't play anymore. i'm the campus manager for ONE, a organization to combat poverty. PLan on an internship at a lawfirm this summer and yeah.

nothing special, i haven't saved any whales or anything just studied really.

Not super familiar with yale, i have a friend on the crew team says it is sick. A friend who's dad is a prof there says it is sweet but transfer is near impossible and that is a known by me.... Kinda just throwing logic to the wind and see if it is possible. I am perfectly content with UM or ND (two places i really want to go) but i thought what the hell.

give me all the criticism. kinda want an idea...

Harvard’s not taking transfers right now. I’m not sure if Princeton was at one point, but they aren’t now. That leaves you with Yale. Good luck with that.

yeah i know Harvard isn’t currently - MIT is out of the question b/c i am not up to par with their mathematical qualifications and Princeton doesn’t take transfers so that leaves em with yale… haha

MIT…lord…dont go to that school…do something to your life

You have no hook, you are the opposite of a URM, and your high school stats suck. If your only reason for transferring to Yale is that a friend “bet” you, you might as well spend your $80 application fee on something meaningful. Like a charity.

You’re going to need to save more than a whale to get into Y.

haha so you’re left with yale… if you’re applying as a joke, it’ll show on your app. if you’re dedicated to going to a more prestigious college, why not apply to something more attainable, but not quite ivy league…unless you’re happy now and really are just applying as a joke.

so you wanted to know your chances - I’m guessing Yale’s transfer acceptance rate is around 1% or so. And that’s for really competitive applicants. so there’s your chance! good luck. it’s all a crapshoot anyhow. do try to save a herd of whales..heck, stop global warming and save the rainforests while you’re at it. it’ll help boost your resume :)
