<p>boomer01, it'll depend on the college you're going to. At more conservative colleges, you're not going to need to worry about it as much. If it bothers you a lot, you can always request a single as you gain seniority, or you can decide to switch to a new roommate with morals and habits closer to your own.</p>

<p>My personal and humble opinion? If you wanna have sex and your roommate doesn't. Doesn't want you to have sex. You can always a very effective signal and barrier. Just Connect the door knob to the electric outlet. 110V coursing through him might make him reconsider his disapproving of your coital activities...</p>

<p>I know someone who was sexiled every day, for hours on end. Her friend got so sick of it (on her behalf), that he took her key, opened the door, walked in and said, "Why are you guys doing it with the lights off? Don't you want to see the other person?"</p>
<p>I'll try to seriously answer the time question. Never overnight. Then you have to find somewhere else to sleep. If it's a school night, there's nothing wrong with knocking and coming in a few minutes later if it's right around the time (or before, if you need to shower or whatever) you usually go to sleep. Ditto for weekends. I know that some people plan ahead - will ask when the roomie is going to the library.</p>

<p>people got sexiled in the dorms all the time, it's a fact of college life. just crash in a hallmate's room. what sucks is having thin walls and having to hear the activities next door....and/or knowing that the person next door can hear what you're up to.</p>
