i was looking at a site where they were selling vespas and i thought they looked pretty sweet to have in college. are there many students in ucla running around with vespas? would it be necessary to have a vespa?
if so, what price range should i look for in buying a vespa?

vespa as in motor scooter? no, not many students own those. however, it seems like a lot of the female athletes have them, i see them drive around in them all the time.

but according to this article in the daily bruin, its popularity is rising:
http://www.dailybruin.ucla.edu/news/articles.asp?ID=29867

haha are you kidding - the entire water polo team has them... and they're all parked in lot 13 (the one by saxon) :)
However, I think that quite a few more students have vespas (or similar scooters). If you think you'd use it, go for it.

ohh thanks for the article. it says that i should wait a few quarters to get to know LA and figure out if i would actually need a vespa. sounds pricey so ill sit on the idea for a lil while longer before i make that investment. thanks guys

There are about half as many Vespa riders as there are motorcyclists at UCLA. I've also noticed that there's always a sky blue Vespa parked by the intersection between Rieber and De Neve... any first years ride one?

Oooo, so that's what they are. They look quite futuristic.

"Butler, who uses her scooter virtually every day to go to swim practice, class and Westwood, spends just $2 a week on gas."
