<p>There are a couple of good reasons most vet schools are not in large cities. Most of them are public institutions that are well-supported by state governments because they are a great service to the agricultural sector, and they are therefore located in land-grant institutions, which are rarely (if ever) surrounded by urban areas.</p>
<p>The other reason for the semi-rural location of most is because it is a lot easier to provide large animal vet training, including equine, in areas with a lot of space.</p>
