Veteran Applicants and Acceptance Thread

Hello to all the Veterans,

I am starting this thread to see where we all stand and how many of us are accepted.

Post your:

Branch of Service-
Major -
Location -
GPA -
AA/AS-T-
Course Work Complete-
Your Comments-

Branch of Service- Air Force (will be using my GI Bill)

Major - Business Admin emphasis Information Systems

Location - MSJC

GPA -3.27

AA/AS-T: No, and Yes… I received an AST degree thru MSJC but it was never counted towards my application. I have AAS’s in Business Admin, Business Technology, Liberal Arts and a CCAF in Aircraft Maintenance

Coursework: I have all the required course work and Major Prep completed

Your Comments: I spoke to Veteran Admissions Officer and he said “Veterans have the highest priority out of almost everyone. Being a Veteran gives a higher priority than having an AST degree.” The only other factor that would benifit a veteran even more is transferring from a local college.

Branch: Army
Major: Aerospace engineering
Gpa: 3.33
Location: San Diego

Im attending miramar college here in San Diego. I will post my decision as soon as I find out. Good luck

Not very many of us, hopefully that can be a good thing. Are you an Army aircraft mechanic? I was an Air Force aircraft mechanic (crew chief) on the B-52.

No actually I was Field Artillery. yeah hopefully that is a good thing!

Branch of Service- Navy
Major - Mechanical Engineering
Location - MSJC and SDcity
GPA - 2.8
AA/AS-T- none
Course Work Complete- taking the last of the engineering prep classes: physics sequence (waves, optics and modern physics) and Intro. to circuits.

Your Comments- I actually got accepted for Fall of 2014 but couldn’t get them to let me roll over enrollment to this current semester. A whole year wasted i guess. Ill post what happens by Thursday. Getting tired of checking the Red ID login every 5 mins lol.

I got Accepted

Nice!!! Congrats man!!

I haven’t heard back yet but im not too optimistic because I dont have many major prep done. So we’ll see

Err Major Prep is really important… 2 years ago, I talked to Frank Roberts the Veteran Rep at San Diego. I told him I have all my general ed done and he said chances of me getting in with out major prep are low.

@Raisedbywolves‌ yeah my transfer counselor told me I would most likely would not get accepted but since i qualified for the free applications I should just apply. But he told me not to get my hopes up. So im not really expecting to get in honestly. You know we have to prepare for the worst hope for the best.

Yeah, your me 2 years ago, right when I was about to get out of the military. Even though I had a CCAF (Air Force Associates) I went back to community college and got an AST degree and finish my major prep, to help me transfer.

Yeah i just got out August 2013 and went straight to miramar college. I’m still pending

Do you do vet work-study?
