Hi. I am a soldier, about to get out of the military. I'm having some trouble deciding on which schools to apply to. I would like to stay either on the west coast or the east coast.
I have about 20+ college credits, with horrible GPA... Kinda got side tracked during college. And I took the california high school proficiency exam to leave high school early. I did take SAT 1 a while back, but didn't do so well on it.
Anyway... I'm hoping that being a veteran will help with the admission process, and maybe I will have a better chance at getting accepted into a decent college.
Anyone know of any veteran friendly colleges or have any recommendations?

Thanks.

I think all schools look favorably on veterans and if you are a borderline student with grades and test scores close to their admissions standards, then your vet status will definitely help. Unfortunately however, if you don’t come even close to their required grades and test scores, I think it will be really hard to get in. My cousin was in a similar situation and he found a bunch of schools that didn’t require test scores. Try an online college search like myUsearch.com for a list of schools that don’t require test scores. Hope that helps!

However those schools will also need to consider your grades. Having spent time since college in the military will help a great deal. The schools will expect you to show more maturity than your grades show. Are you still a CA resident? If so I would look at one of the CSUs.
