Viacomm sues Google for $1 billion

What do you all think of the Viacomm lawsuit against Google? I think it's pretty frivilous, and I hope it gets thrown out.

Probably.

Whatever, the guys that founded YouTube already cashed out. Too late. YouTube would say "why the hell hasn't Viacom sued a year ago? we've been around for a couple years. why now?"

What the hell is wrong with people? Carol Burnett sued Family Guy too!!!!

That ***** better shut the **** up!

<a href="http://today.reuters.com/news/articlenews.aspx?type=entertainmentNews&storyid=2007-03-17T010507Z_01_N16246040_RTRUKOC_0_US-BURNETT.xml&src=rss&rpc=22%5B/url%5D">http://today.reuters.com/news/articlenews.aspx?type=entertainmentNews&storyid=2007-03-17T010507Z_01_N16246040_RTRUKOC_0_US-BURNETT.xml&src=rss&rpc=22</a></p>

They sue now because they 1 billion dollars in damages is a realistic settlement with a company as wealthy as google.

Funny funny funny. Banker's right, they're suing now because Google's the one with the all the money and $1 billion is much more realistic.

Rolling with technology.... Apparently for doing that, you now get sued.

Yeah it's YouTube's fault that random people online uploaded clips of copyrighted shows. Riiiiggghhhttttt.......

Why? Google is profiting off of uploaded, Viacom content. I fail to see how that isn't grounds for a lawsuit.

The knee-jerk reaction is to side with Google, but when you actually think about it Viacom has a legitimate concern.

But it's not youtube that's uploading the stuff; it's the American people

additionally, people put stuff up from CBS, NBC, FOX, and others. I don't see those television stations making a big deal about it.

It's youtube for goodness sakes. Everyone loves youtube and everyone uses it. (My professors have even used it for class)

viacom needs to just move on.

So Google has the right to facilitate the uploading and viewing of illegal content, profit off of said content, and laugh all the way to the bank with impunity?

What other companies choose to do with the content they own has nothing to do with Viacom.

google should sue the ppl who uploadded it. ahahah that would be funy.
