I have found the link to the Vice Presidential nomination application. I have printed it out, but the intructions are hazy. It talks about the CFA having a 2mile run and other quirks that dont match. On top of that, it describes turning in paperwork to the Academy who will send it to him?? So basically the academies apply for us? I have managed to get myself quite confused.

I have no idea what you are looking at but here are the instructions and form for vice presidential nomination:
http://www.whitehouse.gov/vicepresident/2008_Academies_Application.pdf
To be considered for a VP nomination all you need to do is fill out the form, which is the last two pages of link above, and mail it to the address at the top of page 3:
The Vice President
Eisenhower Executive Office Building
Attn: Military Academy Nominations
Washington DC 20501

Down at the bottom of the application form, right above where you sign it states:
[quote]
I understand that the Vice President has authorized the academies to evaluate all applications and rank them according to qualifications to include high school or college academic records, results of the ACT and SAT tests, recommendations from individuals who are in a position to judge an applicant's character and academic potential, and physical and medical qualifications.

This means the academies decide who will receive the VP nominations based on the information they have from your transcripts, test scores, recommendations, etc. You do not send any of those items to the VP, he doesn't want to see them.
