Video on how to audition for UNCSA

Hi,
I thought some of you might find this very helpful. Here are the two men who audition prospective UNCSA students, discussing what they look for in an audition. I would imagine what they say applies to many other programs as well.
Side note: they mention being “haunted” by the same old Shakespeare monologues. Just know that my daughter actually did one of these “overdone” monologues, and she goes to UNCSA. So, fear not! (click on link for video)

Sorry folks, I keep trying. Please just go to the UNCSA facebook page. You will find the video there. I don’t know why I can’t copy and paste it, but it isn’t working. Anyway, check out the video, its super helpful.

Thanks! There’s a few different FB groups out there, and the University of North Carolina School of the Arts FB had the video, many the UNCSA FB pages were closed groups.

Love this

I see the video for how to audition for the School of Music. Is there one for acting?

There is one for acting From early dec I think. You probably have to scroll down several posts on the general UNCSA Facebook page

@bfahopeful thanks!

I couldn’t find the link to the video on the UNCSA web page - but it’s on their FB page, Dec. 18. entry. I wish there had been something like that when my son auditioned. I find it interesting that Dean Forsman and Quin say they’d love to see something classical other than Shakespeare and the UNCSA web page says they like to see Shakespeare, lol.

Everyone pretty much is mid-auditions by now and has their choices of monologues nailed down, so my son had this piece of advice for those thinking about next year or preparing for their first year of a BFA program: READ PLAYS. MANY, MANY. LOTS. He said he looks back and realizes that he thought he was prepared for a program but could have done so much more.

Has anyone heard anything after D and P interviews? Wanted to know how many are interviewed for each design department and how many are accepted?

There is a acting video. University of North Carolina School of the Arts FB page, type out the full words, do not use the acronym, and you should find the correct FB page.
