there are no discussions for vietnamese courses. it can't hurt to try to attend the lectures and see if you can though. the instructors seem nice enough that they might let you...but the "official response" is that the placement test will be reserved to enrolled students only. but again, go and explain your circumstances (they'll probably understand).

i got an email of my results. i got placed into the intermediate 51a, 51b, 51c level.

me too...advanced...i thought they said wednesday though...oh well

ADVANCED. dammit.

it's ok bfired2. wait, were you planning on actually taking vietnamese courses? i just wanted to pass out.

yeah, i wanted to pass out, but i thought my level was intro for heritage. this would mean i would have to put a lot of work into the class...are you enrolled in either advanced class? i'm in the 2nd one, at 2.

how do you like it so far? i havent learned viet in ages and so this is kinda asduhadiuahiasds-ish for me.

Vietnamese is a really thick Asian language.

if by thick you mean...actually i don't know what you mean. but personally i don't think vietnamese is the prettiest or even one of the prettier sounding languages...

bfired2, i'm not enrolled in either lecture...but am i suppose to? the email makes it sound like i should show up to one of the lectures or something.. and the conversation viet book that you're selling...is that from the advanced class? planning on dropping?

I feel like I'm back in my Vietnamese sunday school... ahh. Anyone else in Intro for Heritage Learners?

so the class is boring so far modernfuturist?

It's just difficult for me to pay attention for 1hr 45 min, especially in a language I haven't heard in awhile (except for my parents speaking it in the background). The teacher seems nice though and learning about my heritage doesn't seem so bad.

for some reason, there's no book for intermediate or advanced viet...but i am selling the beginners book, brand new! 50 bucks, compared to 60 (i think) in the bookstore.

i guess you don't HAVE to, but i don't know how long the placement test is good for.

records are maintained for at least 3 years

Yeah Vietnamese is a really choppy langauge. When I heard two elderly men arguing in Vietnamese, I thought it were the most obnoxious sounds I've ever heard!!!!! UGH!!!!!

i've heard vietnamese compared to ducks quacking...especially when yelling.

=.="

....................

hahah...sad but i agree

Ok sure, some of us agree that Vietnamese is an unpleasant language to listen to. But Vietnamese girls are not too bad :]
