Vietnamese Placement Exam

I'll be taking the Vietnamese Placement Exam on:

Friday, September 28, 2007
3:00pm to 5:00pm
HAINES 220

What is the format of the test and what should I be prepared for (grammar, essay, mc?)

Freaking easy. Some multiple choice exams, a writing passage... email one of the contacts for Southeast Asian languages and ask. It might be different from when I took it.

Shameless plug: If you need the textbook, I have it. PM me if you want to purchase it for $35.

what's a writing passage?

http://www.alc.ucla.edu/

Choose your contact.

mme-lin: would you happen to have the textbook for SEASIAN 50D? :) My professor hasn't posted up the textbooks we need yet.

Yes, I do.

The textbook is most likely "Chung Ta Noi."

Go ahead and email your instructor and see if it's the same!

^_^

if i do bad on the test, can i retake it the following year?

I don't know. Did you contact someone from the website?

Oh yeah... and if you have the choice - please choose Bui over Nguyen. I've heard he's a million times better. I didn't like Nguyen's class very much. Nice woman but Bui would have been better.

i think you have 1 shot each year at the test from what i remember at orientation.

Emmeline, was Nguyen hard or something? I have her for 50D this quarter, since Bui's class was all filled up...

No. Bui is just better. She was really soft-speaking and well I should've done 50A since I'm practically illiterate and more of a conversational speaker.

can we just show up to take the exam or do we have to sign up? x_o
