<p>Just out of curiosity, are Vietnamese considered URMs? I stumbled across that idea in a Princeton thread and thinking it over, they are seem like URMs, rather under represented asians. What do you guys think?</p>
<p>The US census bureau has hundreds of different categories for race. For admission purposes at most colleges, it isn't broken down beyond Asian.</p>
<p>Vietnamese are not considered URMs, especially at UCB/UCLA. :rolleyes:</p>

<p>Depends. While the Federal data collection category is Asian, colleges can, and do, look within categories to determine how they want to increase the diversity, if they indeed want to, of their student body.</p>
