"view decision" ?

on my uva sis account it's showing that my decision has already been made (denoted with a green check mark) but won't allow me to see the decision; instead it just says "Application Decisions are not available until Jan 31st" or something of that sort. Has this happened to anyone else?

I understand why you ask; this is a hot topic every year. Do a forum search and you can find all sorts of conspiracy theories as to what the green check/green dot mean. As I observed during my application process, UVA admissions claims it has no specific meaning.

Although The Oculus’s answer is not incorrect I prefer to point people to Dean J for these types of things as it leaves no room for confusion.

See number three.

Dean J doesn’t check this forum on a regular basis during reading season so if you have a question for her, or a follow up to this, you can post it on her blog [Notes from Peabody: The UVA Application Process](http://uvaapplication.blogspot.com) , the UVa admissions fb page http://www.facebook.com/admissionblog</a> , or twitter http://twitter.com/UVaDeanJ</a> .

Thanks, blue. I was too lazy to link but that’s what I was referring to. Although people get that information from the office, I notice they still like to speculate. The wait/stress stimulates this :)

thanks guys! i got nervous/extremely frustrated when i saw that green check mark haha

Hah, I’m sure that was nerve racking.

I don’t want you all freaking out, but I explained what happens, roughly, in the comments on my post about the “view decision” thing. The “to do” lists are automated. If your documents come in electronically, our system is checking items off (we’ve taught the system how to do this). There’s a point when humans take over and the file starts to move into the review process.

I compared the time between your file becoming complete (the mid-year report is the only item on your list) and the review process to cars waiting on a ramp to get on a highway and while that’s not a perfect metaphor, I think it’s close. All of your files are going on a big trip with different stops and different destinations.

The review is going to take a while, so if you only see the MY report on your list, try to step away from the status page for a little bit and try not to fret. If we need anything else from you, we’ll be in touch by email.

Hello, Dean J! Thanks for looking up from your reading to provide that information. Happy reading…

thanks dean J!

That happened to me too! UVa… such a ■■■■■.

It just happened to me. I was scared.
