<p>My impression of Villanova is that it serves as a "safety" school for many students who are reaching higher (Ivies and would-be Ivies) so that its admitted students statistics skew much higher than those who actually enroll. Am I mistaken or is this somewhat close to the truth? My D has her heart set on Villanova -- it is a reach school for her, though in some of the categories she falls into the Middle 50% (GPA in strength of curriculum). I think EA is a long shot for her (due to my theory) but hope she will be accepted as part of the regular pool if she can increase her ACT composite score by a few points. Any insight would be appreciated.</p>
<p>I’m no expert on Villanova admissions, but if you PM me, I’d be happy to share my son’s stats. He was admitted EA this past year (will be a freshman in fall 2010) and his GPA and SAT/ACT were clearly in the 50% range. He did have (what we saw as) significant ECs and really fabulous LORs. But I would have generally recommended applying EA to Villanova with mid-range stats.</p>
<p>College Board SAT numbers are of enrolled students.These stats are usually buried in colleges web sites under Institutional Research as Common Data Set or Fact Books.
Most college admissions web site prominently display accepted students stats , not enrolled.
Many private schools do not even publish their Common data sets or enrolled student data.
You will find a wide disparity of Admit data vs Enrolled data at most schools , some colleges dont want you to find the details of the disparity.
Outside of Harvard , Swarthmore, MIT and the like , every school is someones safety.</p>

<p>Admission is not only based on GPA/SAT numbers but I hope the data gives you a better view of Selectivty for your daughter.</p>
<p>As for EA admits , they are usually reserved for the most competetive applicants , and all students not offered admission are deferred to the RD pool. Many of these deferred are admitted in March.</p>
