@ConfusedMominMA I’m not an admissions person but I’m pretty sure your daughter will get in RD. Villanova has a history of deferring people that are still very qualified for the school who apply EA in order to make their yield look good. The business school is one of the harder schools you can apply to and her sat scores and grades look great. If it makes your daughter feel any better, my older sister was deferred from her ED (duke) and was deferred from villanova business school EA as well. We thought she wasn’t gonna get in to any of the schools she truly wanted to go to but in RD she got into nearly all the schools she applied to and is now very happy at Cornell. Although it sort of feels like it, a deferral is not a rejection and dont underestimate her ability to get into her harder RD schools. Its a brutal process, but for someone as smart as your daughter it will all work out in her favor in the end.

@mamahills-Thanks for the kind words. Let’s hope so!
@longisland234-thank you for the words of encouragement. We were rather surprised by the deferral. Her SAT scores could be a little higher but we hoped that her gpa and SAT II scores (USHistory 770 and Math I 720) would help make up for it along with the rest of her application. I’m sure she is pretty shaken and worried about the rest of her RD schools.

My son was deferred, and based upon the stats of those that were also deferred, he is in the right pool of people bc many of those deferred had higher stats than his. I am happy for those that got in, and sad for those, like my son, who are disappointed Just remember, it is very, very early in the process! Chin up and enjoy the holidays!

Based on what I’ve seen from the deferral pool, I think everyone has an excellent shot at RD when Villanova accepts the bulk of their students. Good luck everyone!

Those of you who think scores may have been an issue…if your S/D hasn’t already tried the ACT they may want to. My daughter saw a huge jump from her SAT to ACT. Went from an 1880 to a 31/32 Superscore which is the equivalent to an increase in over 200 points on the SAT. She did study a lot but it really just entailed taking practice tests and correcting herself over and over, and timing herself as well. Just food for thought it may give them the bump they need for Villanova or the other schools on their list. The next test is February 7 and some schools may accept that score. I would of course check with the school first. Good luck!
