Honors decisions are released!

I just received mine on Thursday morning. It was surprisingly generous!

@AnonAlli1021 that’s not what we usually hear! Good for you! Congrats! Is Villanova you too
Choice? We’re you accepted EA Or ED? What were your stats?

Thanks! I was surprised too because I did the net price calculator with my college counselor earlier this fall and it said my family was going to have to pay around $25,000 a year after factoring in federal loans!

The offer is about $9,000 a year for everything which, believe it or not, is a couple of thousand less than my high school tuition and my parents should be able to afford it. (I will still have about $20,000 in federal student loans upon graduation, but Villanova’s offer has been the best thus far among Fairfield, SJU, Scranton, schools like that.)

Villanova was my top choice coming into this year (and still is), but I’m waiting on BC–however I’m not anticipating an acceptance, since I messed up the SAT send as it had to go through the collegeboard “shipping” process and couldn’t just be a self-report and I submitted too late due to the Christmas break (idiotic move but oh well).

I applied EA to Liberal Arts and Sciences (which I think helped since I believe their business and nursing schools are harder to get into).

My GPA is a 3.88/4 UW at a decently prestigious, but nothing insane, prep high school.

I got a 1450 SAT (760 R&W and 690 Math), which isn’t stellar for nova or re: BC point above, but I think submitting a test score in this environment helps if you have it and it’s close to a school’s range.

My ECs were honestly average. Some leadership, but I always felt lacking in this category.

My AGI was about $95,000 for 2019 and I have a twin sister going to college next year also, which I think helped a ton.

Best of luck to you and your family.

(This was a bit long so I apologize but admittedly it was a bit cathartic for me.)

I must admit that Nova goes further in my bracket if decisions come out before Thursday!

Can anyone recommend a “self guided” walking tour of Villanova? We are headed there soon and wanted to do a little more than just wander around. Thanks!

You can get an in-person tour

If 60k is a little steep for my family do you think it is worth it to attend Villanova for engineering? What do you think are the benefits (if any) of attending Villanova over a school like Stevens for cheaper?

Stevens for engineering!

Did anyone apply for the other scholarships Nova has available? I contacted their admissions office and they said scholarship information would come out this week, so I was wondering if anyone got sent an email with an update on their decision?

Where else did you get accepted 60k =240k plus for 4 years. In my opinion that’s too much. Only you and your family know financially what’s best.

My top schools are Bucknell (but its the same price), Stevens, UDEL (honors), and TCNJ (honors). Villanova is definitely my top choice, but I am worried about getting a good job to pay back all of the debt.

I choose Bucknell despite villanova being cheaper. I would go on which onr would set you up for your career best

go with the cheaper school. that is way too much debt

Waitlisted- any updates on when we might hear?

Based on posts last year, people starting hearing around May 1, but this year who knows?

Some schools are already tapping their waitlists, I’m hearing.

This was such a crazy year for admissions. My guess is that some schools will be severely over-enrolled, and some schools will be exhausting their waitlists quickly.

My son is on several waitlists, but Nova is the only one that would change his direction.

Good luck!
