<p>What kinds of things does a new student need in his/her freshman dorm room? For example, do the rooms have box refrigerators or microwaves?

<p>Depends on where you go! Check the website for your college to see what comes with the rooms.</p>
<p>At least for me, I didn’t see a need to bring a microwave. (We weren’t allowed to bring a fridge; we got one.) There was a common microwave in the kitchen, and it was never busy. Sort of regret lugging mine since it’s untouched.</p>
