I'd like to major in psychology and do pre medical. I was just wondering which college promotes the best environment for a pre med student. Which college can give the best education without bogging me down with too much of a work load? And which college can give me the best GPA for a medical school to look at with out killing myself with work?
Thanks, all responses are appreciated.

Hate to break it to you, but any pre-med program worth its salt will bog you down. It’s strenuous, and if it isn’t, it’s likely not a strong program that will prepare you well for the MCATs.

That being said, I do know that Muhlenberg has one of the highest admit rates to med school in the country. One of the reasons this is so, is that they start weeding out the casual students from the serious ones as freshman. If you aren’t pulling your weight, it’ll will be known to you by your profs. They won’t wait until your junior or senior year to tell you you’re not med school material. In fact, if you prove you’re not, they won’t recommend you, which is how they weed out the sub-standard students from the high-achieving students, and get such good med school admission outcomes.

I remember several of my daughter’s freshman friends dropping their pre-med majors at the end of freshman year - and we’re talking about kids who were vals and sals in high school. But like I said, if you commit to it, and stick with it, you’ve got a great chance of med school acceptance.

Don’t know anything about Villanova or UM.

Gotta love the generation of kids today. I want to test myself and go to the best program and get a great GPA etc. However, I dont want the work to get in the way of my social life and tweets. HAHA

terimit…my son is looking at Muhlenberg for pre-med. I have heard very good things about Muhlenberg’s med-school sucess rate but, haven’t found any clear ratings lists or reports. Have you seen anything speciifc? Any suggestions?

I read something several months ago, but can’t remember where. Will see if I can find it.

OK… just found an article from 2005 quoting Randy Helm (school president). He says they have a 90% acceptance rate to medical school.
