Son was rejected. He is devastated; the whole family is really. When our oldest son started at Villanova a couple of years ago, he was the first in our family to go to college. We kind of signed on as a loyal Villanova family. We hoped to make Villanova a family tradition and send all of our kids there (Naive I guess). The brothers were really looking forward to attending Villanova together.
-I think his grades were good enough, 3.8 If I remember correctly. (Despite having a past school ruin his transcript with administrative errors they refused to correct).
-His SAT scores hurt him most, 1280/1600 I think. He does great work but I only just realized that he doesn’t do well with standardized tests (He was just recently diagnosed with dyslexia, I think that may have something to do with it).
-Although he does love to volunteer to help people any chance he gets, he doesn’t have any regular extracurriculars because he is currently full time caretaker to myself and his younger brother (I am chronically ill).
-He spent months perfecting his essay. I think he did well. I believe it had something to do with his passion for learning. He has to go through many edits but he has been complemented many times by teachers over the years.
I hope this helps someone else to discover if you fit with what Villanova is looking for. Congratulations to those of you who were accepted!
@nOObmom Thanks for sharing your story. It sounds like it is Villanova’s loss for not accepting your son. As I’m sure you know, he can apply to transfer and may very well get in. His stats don’t sound that far off the mark. He sounds like an amazing young man and will be a huge success no matter where he goes. Good luck to your entire family!
Sorry @nOObmom
Hugs to you & your son.
