Hey guys,
I'm really having some trouble figuring out which school I should go to and I was wondering if I could get your input. I am a swimmer and have been in contact with both coaches and they have told me that they would back me up during the regular decision process and that I would have a really good chance of getting in if I tell them that 'said' school is my number one choice. I really liked both schools when I went on trips and that's why I am kind of at a dead end right now. On one side, I feel that Villanova could provide me with more opportunities academically and the swimming is more competitive. But I felt like I got along a lot more with the kids at F&M. I would appreciate what you guys think about my choices. Thanks
P.S- Some things about me: I don't drink and I don't really do parties; I am not intrested in Greek life; I don't know what I want to major in (nothing science related); I am intrested in acapella

There is much more music overall at Franklin & Marshall and the pool is outstanding! The music students were very nice during our visit. I can’t comment on Villanova - did not visit.

Why not just apply to both and see what happens? You’ll have additional opportunities to visit once you get your acceptances (assuming you’re admitted to both) and may even have different FA packages to consider. Both terrific schools but very different in feel. I would go with your gut (and the final price tag) when the time comes.

If you can, re-visit the two schools and see if you can even do an overnight or shadow a student for a day. After my D did this at her two top schools her decision as to where to apply ED became very clear.

If you can’t revisit the schools some things to consider would be: 1)Do you prefer a small LAC or a mid-sized university 2) Is being near a big city a consideration? 3) Is big-time sports a consideration? 4) Do you prefer a Catholic school or a non-denominational school? 5)Which swim program suits you best (the more competitive program may or may not be the best one)? 6) Which music program seems stronger? 7) Did you feel the academics for your area of interest are stronger in either school? and 8) Probably most importantly, where did you feel most comfortable and where do you feel you will be happiest over the next four years – never discount your gut feeling as part of this process.
