Hi, the early decision date is coming up, and I’m having a hard time picking my school. I want to go into business and all of these schools have amazing programs. I love Boston College, but I heard it was almost impossible to get into their business program especially coming from my school. I really want to get into my ED school. My gpa is a bit below the average, but my SAT is much higher. Right now I have Villanova selected for ED, but I haven’t submitted yet. I’m concerned about the classes at this school because I know that they are supposed to be really challenging, and I don’t want my grades to suffer. I did visit Nova and did a virtual tour at Wake Forest and loved both. I honestly think that my main concern is that I would struggle there and be studying all the time, and I don’t want that to be my whole college experience. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
I’ve never heard of classes at Villanova be characterized as unusually challenging or more difficult than is typical. I have heard of of Wake Forest being described as “Work Forest” Make of that what you will.
If you have good time management skills, you should be able to lead a balanced college life at any college.
Sometimes strict grading is confused with course difficulty.
As a parent of a WFU senior who is in the business school (Finance major / Politics minor) and involved in several other things I know he would say it just takes time management skills and discipline to do well and have fun. He falls in the middle of his pack in terms of studying. Does a lot but others do more and some do less. He’s very well rounded and values the whole experience, not just the academics. Although he’s done well in class, he would admit he could have done a bit better but that would have taken a lot more work and he preferred doing it his way. At the end of the day, he has had a fabulous experience including studying abroad and has a great job lined up so it’s all good.
