Ok, my first choice school is Notre Dame, but I would also like to know about Villanova.

How hard is it to get into?
Campus life?
Academics?

Thanks

Villanova has become pretty hard to get into (especially in my area--Central New Jersey where it is really popular). Although it is a Roman Catholic school it is a pretty big party school (but what school isn't) it is close to Philly.

Might want to look at Holy Cross, which has better academic reputation than Villanova. Also HC has a great campus-1 hour from Boston.

It's a strong school with lib. arts education and pre-professional majors...has engineering, nursing, business & a law school. It has been very competitive to get into for awhile now. Your stats will need to be v.g for strong consideration.
Not too big...@6000 undergrads, I think. Campus is suburban and not far (@ 20-25 minutes) to CC Phila.

HC doesnt have a better academic reputation than Nova, and of course you would say that because youre a HC troll.

really, i didnt think Nova was a big party school, it has the nickname Villa-no-fun. haha

how does an hour from boston beat 20 minutes to philly?

Villanova is a fairly good school. It has a mainly regional reputation in the mid-Atlantic/Northeast region of the country.

Most students are from either Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey or Connecticut.

The school definetely lacks diversity as minorities are not very common.

Villanova is known for its strong programs in business, engineering and the liberal arts. It has been ranked the #1 school in the Master's Universities North region for 10 straight years now. Nationally it would be around the high 50's to low 60's.

It is not as highly regarded though as Georgetown or Boston College in the Jesuit hierarchy.

It is a good school but if your looking for a school with a very diverse population, from all different parts of the country and internationally as well and name recognition that spans from the east coast to the west, I would strongly consider looking elsewhere such as a city school (BU, George Washington, University of Miami etc...)

They say the SAT range now runs from a 1310-1420. I don't think this is true as schools are notorious for inflating the statistics found on their websites. The actual SAT range will be reported by U.S. News in its new version of America's Best Colleges 2007 Edition to be released on August 18th.

I have heard this schools population is rich, snobby and preppy is this true?

villanova is known as a preppy school, but the 5 kids i know going there are not overly preppy

Yes, the school has its fair share of preppy kids. That is to be expected though when there is something like only 3% minorities (most of which are athletes) and the students are from mainly the New England and Mid-Atlantic states.

As I said before, if you are looking for a school with a diverse student population from all different parts of the country and from abroad as well as national recognition, I would strongly consider that you not go to Villanova.

but they have an awesome basketball team :)

i'm going there. im asian, not necessarily preppy. but i chose it for the fact that it seems like the type of school that can balance academics and fun in one shot.
