violence?

I've been working on my topic B essay for a month now, and have rewrote the entire thing at last 4 times and I'm still unsatisfied with it. The ideas just weren't thick enough.
Until now.
But the problem is, I am afraid it will be too violent and alarming for the essay reader.
Would it be alright if I write about how my mother abused me? It wend pretty far to the point where she chases me (7yrs old) around the apartment with a knife shouting, "I'll kill you, I'll kill you. No. I'll kill myself."
Should I delete this part? Because it I do, it simply won't be as affective. But with it, it might be too effective, in the wrong way. OR I'm just overthinking it and making a mountain out of a molehill. haaha. Slap me if that is the case.
Suggestions?

I wrote mine about a similar experience. Just write it and edit out or reword anything you think is over the top. But the truth is the truth and if you have the courage to put it out there, don’t hold back.
