VIP application

A couple of my friends, both OOS, got the VIP application. My college counselor told us that they pretty much randomly picked people and if you called/emailed and requested for a VIP app then you'd get one.

Congrats to those of you who are in! Burlington is a really great place...I think I'd love UVM a lot more if I didn't live there.

Thanks arky!
I totally get what you are saying about schools close to your home because I am in a similar situation!

so has anybody heard back within the past week???

My daughter applied with a VIP just before the November deadline and heard today, she's in...to quote her, "Mom, I'm going to college!" She applied to the College of Agriculture. The faculty were welcoming as were the students. We visited and sat in a class. She thought the tour guide was great, and that the dorm rooms look pretty good. Since we are out of state, it is quite costly. We will see. As others have mentioned, it is a relief, just to be "in".

I'm still waiting for some letter...any letter from them. I got the letter saying they received all my stuff, but nothing else. My friend who applied after I did already got her acceptance letter in. I don't understand what is taking so long. I applied on October 30th so I should know by now right?

wow UVM is just as much as a good private school for out of staters. unfortunately if they don't hook me up real nice with aid then my parents would never pay for that.

Yay! I'm going to college! I checked online a few minutes ago and saw my decision. I'm so so so happy.
UVM is very expensive so I'll probably only go there if I either a) get good financial aid or b) get into the honors college.

Congrats to everyone else who got in!

I was accepted today as well =)

it took them a month to process my transcript so I think I have to wait another 21 business days....ugh

^ They took a month to find my transcript too!
But I got decision pretty fast after that... so you'll here their decision preety soon:)

I got in two weeks ago...
although I already got in to one of my top choices,
it's good feeling to be accepted by a college :)

Have anyone heard about the scholarship yet?
I am wondering about it since I might consider going to Vermont if I can get good amount of aid...
Congratulations to everyone who got in!

I sent everything in a little before November 1st and found out online the day after thanksgiving that I was admitted - I hear good things about the school and hope to visit - but I'm going to keep applying to my other colleges to see which one comes through with enough money for me to attend.

I know one girl who got her scholarship information either the day she got her acceptance letter or a few days after. She received a $2000 merit scholarship.

I was thinking the same thing too, Story4Clover, about going there if aid is good or if I get into the honors college. I'm resending my SAT scores because they're MUCH better than May's.

i recieved my merit package about 1 wk after my acceptance letter. I recieved a 12,000 scholarship dived among the four year....3,000 per year.

I just got in via VIP. Can someone tell me how the scholarship process works? mciar, did you have to apply for anything to get the merit package?

I did not apply for anything to recieve the merit 'package'. As far as I know all applicants are automatically considered. Congrats on your acceptance! =)

Is there anyway to check your application status online if you applied with the VIP application?

Edit: Nevermind, found the letter with all the info-accepted!

I got the presidential scholarship too... $3, 000 per year

Sadly, if $3,000 is what I end up getting, I have to cross vermont from my list...:(
I just can't go to Vermont when other college with same amount of tuition offers more merit aid already...

Vermont is great school though...
well, good luck to all of you...

I've never been able to figure out how my daughter got the VIP invite, but here's our connections to UVM?

My daughter and I visited UVM the summer of 2005 as part of a two week long "college tour" of 9 different campuses in the northeast. I'm sure we filled out some kind of form, but after all the schools we visited, I can't remember exactly.

When she took the SATs, we had her results sent to UVM because it was one of her top 4 picks from our tour.

Her GPA is a 4.0, and her initial SAT score was a 1970.

We'd also filled out a full profile on collegeboard.com.

She applied using the VIP app by the Nov 1 deadline, but I didn't check the status until Dec 7th. At that time, it said they had not recieved her transcripts. I notified her high school and asked them to resend. On the 13th, they still hadn't received them, so I emailed, and they said the school could fax the paperwork, and they did. I just checked this afternoon, and she's been accepted.

I've never been able to figure out how my d got the VIP invite, either. We have relatives who live in VT, and we visit the state quite often, but we never visited UVM, never sent scores specifically to UVM, never contacted them in any way. D did, however, fill out a complete profile on College Board. At least 6 other kids that we know about from her high school also got the VIP, so maybe they just like her high school? Two of those kids are now attending UVM.

Congrats to all who were accepted!

I got my acceptance "email" today at school, and I was shocked. I had acutally forgotten that I applied there! To be honest, I only applied because the application was free, but now that I got in I'm looking up a lot of info about it. They seem like a good school.

And they said I qualify for their anual 18,000 scholarship for community service! Its not guarunteed, I have to apply for it, but if they told me about it I guess I stand a chance >.>

If i got that scholarship, that'd be so much money I woudln't have to pay, it'd make me so happy.

I got into NYU though... but they're not offering me a lot of money. I don't knwo what to do!!!! Tell me about UVM lol.
