Vip

After reading this board last night my daughter was trying to login into her VIP account for the first time but was not able to. She put in her ss number but a pin did not come up. I called the help line today and they said that she wouldn't get a pin until she was accepted. How did you all get on? Thanks!

Karen

There are instructions on this page: [USC: Office of the University Registrar: VIP Pin Information](<a href=“University Registrar - University Registrar | University of South Carolina”>University Registrar - University Registrar | University of South Carolina)

But yeah, if your daughter hasn’t been admitted yet, then it’s possible she won’t be able to access it until she is admitted.

KarGaro…
We have the same problem It is very confusing…once you figure out how to login with SS number, they will immediately send a PIN. Good luck!

It is so confusing, truly a stupid system, took me about 20 minutes to get on

What did you do to get on?

I have a quick question about VIP - can everyone who applies to USC access their VIP account or only admitted students? My son was able to log into his VIP account, however, he won’t find out until March whether or not he was accepted. When he clicks on the link for the freshman enrollment deposit it says “student has ineligible admissions status” - does this mean anything or just that he may not be in the system yet?

VERY confusing process. I finally figured it out by using this pdf: http://www.uscb.edu/after_acceptance/docs/VIP_INSTRUCTIONS_020410.pdf</a> - you should be able to figure it out even though it is -extremely- confusing. They should try to come up with an easier way!

smrsson - I just clicked the tab you referred to and got this:

Enrollment Deposit Payment Screen

To secure your place in the fall freshman class, please provide your credit card information below. The enrollment deposit amount that will be charged to your credit card is $ 200.00. The deposit must be submitted no later than May 1.

If you submit your deposit and later cancel your admission application, you may request a refund in writing if the request is postmarked by May 1. No refunds will be issued if requested after May 1.

If you want to pay by check, please mail a check, payable to University of South Carolina, in the full amount to:

Undergraduate Admissions, University of South Carolina, Columbia, South Carolina 29208, USA

My son has been accepted, but has not decided whether he wants to go to USC because he hasn’t heard anything from the Honors College yet. It’s starting to get late so we’re wondering if he WILL hear… :(

Thanks for your responses - my son hasn’t been accepted yet - he applied regular decision so he will find out in March. It is his number one choice so he is really hoping he gets in. Logging into the VIP portal wasn’t a problem - we were able to do it - my concern was what came up when he clicked on the link for the Freshman Enrollment Deposit. It just says something about “ineligible admissions status” (or something to that effect) We are hoping it doesn’t mean that he was rejected but maybe just not in the system yet. Keeping our fingers crossed!

I think it’s very likely the latter - just not in the system yet. Good luck to your son!

Thank you very much - I hope you are right  and good luck to your son as well!

smrsson - Hi there. I can log into VIP as well and I also get the same response when I hit the Freshman Enrollment Deposit. Do you think everyone who applied, regardless of acceptance status, can log into the VIP portal? Thoughts anyone?

Yes, I do think they can. We logged on well before our son was accepted.

Has your son made any decisions yet? Congrats to him on his acceptance!

Thank you. He is very torn. If he receives an in-state tuition scholarship he will likely go to USC, but that remains to be seen. He was offered a Jesse Mercer Scholarship (worth $24,000/year) at Mercer University but his heart is not there because it’s a little too far from us. We are going down to visit in a couple of weeks though, so he is reserving judgment. We haven’t heard from NCState yet - he didn’t apply until the last minute - and we haven’t gone down there either, so nope, he really hasn’t decided yet. So much still up in the air. Is your heart set on SC? I’m guessing yes by your username. ;)

Lol! Actually, that was my D’s username last year. She is currently a freshman at USC and my oldest D just graduated from USC last year. Our son is a high school senior and he applied regular decision…not sure he will get in though…keeping our fingers crossed though…it sure would make life easy. We are so familiar with USC and my daughters love it!

Oh yeah, it would certainly be easier. What is his interest?

Interests are kind of undecided right now but leaning toward Athletic Training or Communications/Broadcasting. Choices are Penn State, East Carolina…hopefully, but not sure…USC.

Your S’s interest?

He is very good at biology (all areas), physics and math. He had thought of going to med school, but with Obamacare coming and some other issues, he decided it was not the right thing for him. So he chose Biomedical Engineering. Kind of encompasses all strengths.

Excellent major! When will he find out about in-state tuition? Soon, right? Probably not soon enough though! ;)
