Still cannot register to pay enrollment deposit…I guess we will know soon enough! Sending positive thoughts your way everyone…

Wait…hope2help…didn’t you daughter get the Lieber Scholars Award? You still can’t register for orientation? Did you pay your enrollment deposit through VIP?

Yes, she didn’t have any trouble before getting into VIP to pay housing and enrollment deposit. But today when we tried to register for orientation kept getting error message. Weird and frustrating. She finally made the final decision and now I want to get the ball rolling with all the specific details, plan travel, etc.

check the orientation page on the website. Orientation registration may not be open yet

It is open with dates listed on the calendar and when she tried again this a.m. DD said there was no problem getting to it thru VIP. so must have been some temporary glitch or something. Seems VERY surprising to me that they will offer orientation on Memorial Day but would simply life for us A LOT if they do!

Well my son’s “Enrollment Deposit” link still says the same thing this morning…I have a bad feeling :frowning: - i would think if he was accepted that would’ve changed by now…I hope I am wrong. Has anyone else checked that link lately? Any changes?

My daughter’s says the same thing too and I’m not feeling really good about it either. :frowning: I’m hoping and praying that the mailman brings good news this week. I keep telling myself and her that she loves Alabama too and that she can be happy at more that one school. She texted me from Disney this morning and said to just let her know if anything comes in the mail but not to tell her anything else about it. Ugh! I can’t wait until this part is over! Good luck to everyone else who is waiting! I hope that we all get good news!

I just talked to the admissions office because we got a letter from financial aid that I wanted to ask about. They told me that the letters did go out late last week but would not give me any other information. I’m still not feeling too great about it! I guess we will all be stalking our mailman today!

Karen

Is it true that one can only sign up for orientation once they’ve paid their enrollment deposit? I hadn’t seen that yet.

That is funny your daughter is considering Alabama - my son is too  He got into Tennessee and Alabama but we haven’t seen the campus yet - have you? I’ve heard it’s really nice and anyone who we have run into who went there loved it. Did you say you were from NJ? We are - it would be funny if they both ended up!

smrsson - We are from NJ - what part are you from. We are in Monmouth County. We did visit Alabama last July and it is beautiful - my daughter loved it - she went down and spent Labor Day weekend there with a friend of her’s from our town and she loved it then too - she just loves USC more. The Alabama forum on CC is awesome - I have been reading that for over a year and they are so friendly and full of information. My daughter said that the people on campus were great and she really didn’t find anything that she didn’t like. She was also accepted to the Univ. of Kentucky and she likes that campus too. And Towson - she didn’t like that quite as much. She does have other options that I think she would be very happy at but . . . she just loved USC from the minute she saw it. Anyway, we should know very soon . . . my mail should be here any minute!

Karen

Okay, even -I- am getting nervous here. Please post and let us know if your kids get in. Hoping for the best for you all.

We received a small envelope today…not good news. :frowning: Okay, so Penn State or East Carolina?

I hear great things about East Carolina (as a resident of NC). What will your student be studying? (Sorry about the not good news…)

Karen-

We are from North Jersey - Bergen County area - we have to plan a trip to Alabama to see that campus. Over the summer we saw USC and Tennessee and University of Georgia. Georgia was really a reach school because of his SAT’s and GPA and he ended up not even applying there. He loved USC - the campus was really nice and we have been vacationing in SC since he was about 2 years old so I think there is a comfort factor that is there. I’m worried about this whole VIP link not changing so we definitely have to check out Alabama. He is also waiting for Florida State which will post their decision by this Wednesday.

I’m mad at myself because on the USC application it asked for all test scores to be sent and I really didn’t want him to send the ACT but was worried if somehow they found out he took them and didn’t submit them then it would hurt him. I told him to just send the ACT score because an admissions counselor reassured me that it wouldn’t hurt him. His SATs weren’t terrible but I’m worried that the ACT. Anyway I guess we will find out either today or tomorrow - let us know what happens when the mailman shows…good luck!

usc2015-

Which Penn State campus did your son/daughter get into? My older son goes to UP but my senior got accepted to Altoona - not the main campus. The main campus is great but I really don’t know anything about Altoona -

Small envelope so not good news. So I guess it will be Roll Tide for our house next year. And that is not a bad thing at all - just not her first choice.

Karen-

Sorry to hear that :frowning: Is she definitely going to go to Alabama? How were the flights when you went to see it? It is a pain getting direct flights isn’t it? I spoke with the contact person in our area about 2 weeks ago and she said you fly into Birmingham and then drive about an hour to the campus - is that about right? Good luck to your daughter -

smrsson - she isn’t home from her class trip until tomorrow night so I’m not 100% sure but she has been saying all along that if she didn’t get into USC she would be going to Bama. I would like her to think again about Kentucky because they gave her a nice scholarship. To get to Alabama there is one direct flight a day out of LaGuardia (I think). We drove when we visited because we were visiting a bunch of schools. When she went over Labor Day she and her friend flew out of Newark had a short layover in Atlanta and then flew into Birmingham. Then their friend who goes to Alabama picked them up. I know that there is a shuttle that students can get on. Did your mail come yet?

Karen

Hi Karen-

No mail yet…ours doesn’t come until about 4:30 :frowning: so I will be waiting all day to see what happens. Like I said I don’t have a good feeling because that link hasn’t changed and I would think if he was accepted then that link would allow for the deposit to be made. His SATs weren’t bad - best total was 1720 - 530 verbal, 540 writing and 650 math - but the ACT was 21 :frowning: - still wish we hadn’t sent it in - many people have said since then that there is no way of knowing he took them so we shouldn’t have sent them Oh well. So much for being honest!

Will let you know when the mail comes later…thanks for the info on flights. It doesn’t seem like it is very convenient but I guess it could be worse - will post as soon as the mail comes later!!
