Hi! I’m wondering about my chances of getting into VCU. I applied early action in late October. My sister currently attends VCU and is studying chemistry. I have a 3.0 GPA (Nothing impressive… I know), and a 25 ACT score. I submitted 1 recommendation letter as well.
I’m very scared because they’re my top choice. I submitted my application and still haven’t heard back. I also rarely get anything from them except for the occasional email. I’m so nervous someone help me figure out if I’m going to get in or not!
Thank you so much.
Your GPA is on the low side for VCU, and your ACT isn’t far enough above their average to fully compensate. But they’re not known for being super selective, so I’d still give you a 50 to 60% shot.
As far as I know, VCU is doing rolling admissions this year, and as is often the case, borderline applicants don’t hear back for a while. If you don’t get a decision within the next month, I’d call them up and ask about your status.
I applied to VCU as well, it is my 3rd choice! Your GPA is a bit low, but if you have good EC’s, essays, etc. then you should get in. VCU isn’t too selective. Good luck!
My D has similar stats to you bobbbby, applied late October still anxiously awaiting. She has only received a Happy Holidays email from VCU that read in part “we hope you’ll be here next year to celebrate with us” which we analyzed for days before we finally figured it probably didn’t mean too much. She has been accepted to University of Mary Washington, another solid choice. She was deferred early action from JMU. And so we wait. Patience is key.
Update: D received her acceptance package in the mail today. Good luck to everyone!
