Well, check out the numbers yourself. (It used to be the UVA had the lowest percentage of Pell Grant recipients among the major state u’s in the country, and the highest graduation rate. Don’t know about W&M.)

lastof3,You may want to think about backing off a little and let your son sort this out in his mind for awhile. Just a suggestion. You and your husband clearly prefer William and Mary. Sounds like your Ivy educated sons do too(which is not surprising since William and Mary is the LAC type choice). Maybe your son is the LAC type of kid, maybe not. Is he more of a typical William and Mary person(TWAMP as they say) or a Hokie? What is his personality like? This is a tough decision for him. Hopefully,he will be able to determine where he would be happy soon. I know the waiting is tough.

hi lastof3,
you’re very analytical & detailed in your thought process.
your idea of “charting / putting weight on each pro+con / planning a decision grid” are very very thoughtfully detailed & rational !!!

we,too, have similar process in our home this last month ( W&M , UVA, VaTech ).
Sometimes, we forget that the "emotional / non-rational " side of this decision.

so, how about taking a break from all these “brain work”, & it will all turn out well !!!

tell him Busch Garden & Watercountry USA is only a short distance away from W+M ! LOL, see if this helps him.
